Now… let’s dive back in, shall we? 😉
Meenal sat still on the cold floor, eyes fixed on the door that had just closed behind Rajveer. Loneliness settled on her chest like a stone, heavier than before. She deserved better than this empty existence, but had no idea how to find it.
The scent of sandalwood and rose drifted through the air—the same fragrance Thakur Shahab used to wear. But that wasn’t what she needed now. Her eyes fell to her wrist, where faint impressions of Rajveer’s fingers remained—a reminder of the suffocation his presence brought.
But Arun’s face came to her mind—the three-year-old, the baby her sister gave birth to, now in her care—the only light piercing the shadows of her tumultuous emotions. She knew she had to stay strong for him, no matter how difficult it may be.
She was more than someone’s wife, more than a girl from someone’s past. She was Arun’s mother—and mothers don’t get to break. She knew she deserved more than this hollow life—but had no idea how to reach it.
She had agreed to this knowing there would be nothing… Just silence. Just emptiness. So why did it feel like the hardest decision she had ever made? She couldn't shake the feeling of doubt and fear that consumed her thoughts.
"No room for doubt," she whispered to herself. Only Arun. Only the love that never wavered.
She exhaled slowly, eyes dropping to the broken glass. Then, wordlessly, she picked up a rag to clean the mess.
If only every mess were made of glass—sharp, but visible. Cleanable. She wished she could sweep away her doubts and fears just as easily.
A piece of glass pierced her skin, a sharp reminder of the pain she was trying to escape.
But as she was about to pull it out, two hands reached out to help her. “You always clean up alone,” Aditya murmured, eyes on her bleeding hand. “Even when it hurts.”
She pulled her hand away and looked at him. "You shouldn't be here…"
Aditya crouched beside her. "Why?" His eyes landed on her hand. "Did you forget how you used to run to me whenever a needle pricked your finger?" he asked softly.
Aditya's presence brought a sense of comfort, reminding her of their past together. She used to laugh when he’d bring her Band-Aids for tiny cuts. Back then, saving her had felt so simple. But the past was no longer their reality, and she knew she had to face her pain alone this time.
"Time changes, so do we..." She stood up and wiped away her tears. Aditya tried to reach out and hold her hand, but Meenal quickly pulled away, avoiding his touch. "I can handle this on my own," she said firmly, her voice wavering slightly. She hated how steady he made her feel—and hated even more how much she missed it.
"Please don’t cross that line again, Aditya. It’s hard enough pretending it never existed. I am your brother's wife now. Your bhabhi, and I expect you to respect that boundary." Meenal's words hung in the air, creating a palpable tension between them.
Aditya clenched his fist in frustration, realizing that their relationship had indeed changed. He nodded silently, understanding the new dynamic between them. Meenal took a deep breath, trying to compose herself before walking away, leaving Aditya to reflect on the distance that had grown between them.
Left alone, he stared at the empty space where Meenal had stood, feeling a sense of loss and confusion. He had lost her once by saying nothing. And now, even words felt useless.
A sad smile played on his lips as he accepted the reality of their changed dynamic. "Bhabhi…"
"I let you go once. Worst thing I ever did. But watching you live like this... that’s worse." Aditya whispered to himself, a pang of regret washing over him as he realized the gravity of his actions. He knew he had to find a way to make things right with Meenal before it was too late.
"If I knew my brother was going to treat you this way, I would have never let you go. Please forgive me, Meenal," he whispered to the room. The silence gave no answer. But he wasn’t done yet. Not this time.
Aditya’s heart ached with guilt. Had he already lost the right to try? Was she meant to spend her life in silence and regret? The weight of it pressed down on him—and he knew he couldn’t walk away again.
He turned toward the door. If she couldn’t let him in, he’d guard her from the outside. One way or another, he wouldn’t fail her again.

Sometimes the loudest battles are the ones fought in silence.
Writing this chapter tore something in me—and I think it might do the same for you. Meenal’s pain is not just hers; it echoes in anyone who's ever chosen duty over desire, silence over truth, survival over love.
If this chapter made you pause, ache, or whisper "I’ve been there"... you're not alone. That moment when Aditya says, “Even when it hurts”—I felt it in my bones.
Did you?

🔮 What’s Coming Next:
Meenal thinks she’s made her choice. But pain has a way of unearthing old truths.
In the next chapter, a door opens—but not the one anyone expects. Stay with me.
