Breathing steady now, my sinners?

You might want to take deep breath now.

This chapter isn’t about love.
It’s about intention, consent, and the quiet damage done by people who think they’re helping.

Read slowly.
Some truths don’t shock—
they settle.

Welcome to Chapter 90.

Chapter 90: It’s not Powder of Love

The haveli did not stir.

Not a footstep.
Not a whisper.
Not the soft rustle of curtains.

It was as if the walls themselves were holding their breath.

Rita stood with her hands folded, fingers trembling so badly she had to press them together to keep them still. Munni clung to her saree, her small body half-hidden, half-exposed—like she did not know whether to run or stay.

Rajveer’s gaze did not leave Rita’s face.

Not once.

“Speak,” he said again, his voice controlled—but strained, as if one more word might snap it.

Rita swallowed.

Her throat burned.

“I did not drug you to sin, Thakur Sahab,” she whispered. “I swear it on my child.”

Munni whimpered softly, tightening her grip on Rita’s saree.

Rita closed her eyes for a moment—just a moment—then opened them again, as if she had made a decision she could no longer run from.

“I did it… because I was afraid,” she said.

“Afraid of what?” Rajveer asked quietly.

Rita’s lips trembled.

“Of history repeating itself.”

Aditya stiffened behind her.

Meenal’s hand tightened around Rajveer’s arm.

Rita took a shaky breath.

“That night… the powder was not meant for you.”

Rajveer’s jaw clenched.

“Then who?” he asked.

Rita lifted her head.

“For him.” She pointed a trembling finger at Aditya.

Silence fell—sharp, stunned, unforgiving.

Aditya stepped forward instinctively.
“Rita—what are you saying?”

Rita turned to him, tears spilling freely now.

“I thought I was helping,” she swallowed. "By mending two hearts with the powder of love."

Meenal frowned. "Rita, that was not powder of love; it was…" Her words died on her tongue.

Rajveer’s voice cut through the room, sharp and unforgiving.

“It was an aphrodisiac.”

“It was an aphrodisiac.”

The word fell like a blade.

Sharp.

Final.

Rita stiffened.

"What?" Rita asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Aditya went still, color draining from his face.

Meenal placed a comforting hand on Rita's shoulder, trying to offer some solace in the midst of the revelation.

Rita fell to her knees. Tears streamed down her face, feeling a mix of betrayal and shame. Rajveer's words echoed in her mind, shattering the illusion of love she had clung to.

"I swear, child, I don't know… I committed a sin." Rita whispered, her eyes filled with regret and sorrow as her head touched the ground.

Meenal knelt in front of her and pulled her head up, saying softly, "Rita…calm down first. Let's figure out what happened together; we're here for you." Rita looked up at Meenal with tear-filled eyes, but her heart was heavy with the weight of the truth she had just learned.

Rajveer clenched his fists in anger, feeling the betrayal seeping into his bones. But still he managed to calm himself as Meenal's eyes found him.

"Rita, why did you do this? We are all here to support you, but we need to understand what happened," Meenal urged gently.

Rita took a deep breath, her voice barely above a whisper as she began to explain the events that led to her sin. "I thought I was helping…," she cried softly, her words choked with emotion.

Meenal reached out and gently squeezed Rita's hand, wiping her tears away.

"I saw Thakurain unhappy, and Thakur always ignored you… You were unhappy in the marriage, Thakurain; everyone was aware of that," Rita said softly, in between hiccups. "I thought if I used the drug, the love you buried once for Aditya Thakur would help you find happiness again," she confessed, her voice filled with regret.

Meenal listened quietly, her heart breaking for her friend's misguided intentions.

"I thought I was helping; I thought it would bring you happiness…" "I don't want you to leave in loneliness like Megha Thakurain," Rita continued, her voice trembling with emotion.

Hearing Megha's name triggered both Rajveer and Meenal to exchange a quick glance, silently acknowledging the pain that still lingered from her tragic story and the pain Megha suffered because of Rajveer's cold heart.

Rita's intentions may have been good, but the consequences of her actions were devastating for everyone involved.

"You know, Rita, if that Aditya would have drunk that milk, what sin would he or I have committed…," Meenal added, her voice filled with bitterness.

Rita lowered her head; silent tears streamed down her face as she realized the gravity of the situation she had unknowingly caused.

“I am Thakur Shahab's wife,” Meenal said quietly.

“Not by force. Not by fear. By choice," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I know your intentions were not wrong, but interfering in someone else's marriage is never a good idea," Meenal continued, her tone softening slightly.

Rita nodded, understanding the weight of her mistake and the impact it had on those around her.

Rajveer, who had been standing nearby, his body in sweat and tension evident in his posture. Meenal's loyalty to their marriage that had been in name only for years but never in spirit.

He lost Megha by his ignorance, but maybe fate took pity on him and gifted him Meenal, and now because of his ignorance, he is so close to losing her as well.

Even servants notice his coldness towards her. How can he be so blind to the pain that others suffer from his actions?

Rajveer’s jaw tightened.

Somewhere deep inside him, a truth stirred—ugly, familiar, inherited.

He did not voice it.

He never had.

He is like his father, the thakur, who treated his mother with disrespect and cruelty.

With no regard for her feelings, Rajveer continued to distance himself from Meenal, oblivious to the hurt he was causing.

His heartache over losing Megha had blinded him to the love and loyalty Meenal had always shown him.

"Rita…" Rajveer broke his silence as all eyes turned to him, even Aditya, who was shocked into silence by Riat's confession. "You committed a sin…," he paused as Meenal's eyes found him and pleaded for him to stop.

“What you did was wrong,” Rajveer said evenly.

“And it will never be forgotten.”

A pause.

"But I forgive you," Rajveer continued, surprising everyone with his unexpected compassion and understanding.

"Only because I know that deep down, you are not a bad person. You care for Meenal more than anyone else, including yourself." Rajveer's words hung in the air, creating a sense of relief and hope for everyone present, especially Meenal, who finally felt understood and valued by the one person she had always admired.

"Go to your room and start your duties tomorrow; today, rest and reflect on the forgiveness you have been granted," Rajveer concluded, his voice filled with warmth and reassurance.

Meenal gave Rajveer a small smile that Aditya's eyes immediately noticed, and he couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy.

But a smile quickly replaced the jealousy as Aditya reminded himself that Meenal's love is not his to cherish and nurture, not to possess or control.

She is happy with Rajveer, and that is all that matters to him.

Aditya stepped back—quietly.

Some loves were meant to be carried in silence.

This was one of them.

The haveli finally exhaled—but uneasily.

Because truth, once spoken, never leaves quietly.

😈 Devil’s Note 💋

My sinners…

Good intentions don’t make a sin harmless.
They just make it easier to commit.

Rita thought she was fixing hearts.
Meenal protected a choice.
Rajveer forgave—but forgiveness doesn’t erase consequence.

And Aditya?
Some love survives only by staying silent.

Now tell me—

• Was Rita’s mistake forgivable?
• Did Rajveer forgive too easily?
• And is Meenal strong… or sacrificing herself again?

Be honest.
This chapter wasn’t written to be comfortable. 😈💋
