The night dragged on without sleep. Whispers of servants faded behind closed doors, and only the slow, stubborn rhythm of two heartbeats filled the chamber. Then, at last, the first pale light crept in.

Rajveer had not moved since Meenal’s eyelids fluttered open. His hand remained pressed against hers, warm and alive, a lifeline tethering him to her presence.

“Ar… Arun,” she murmured again, voice trembling, fragile as a leaf in the wind. Her fingers twitched against his, weak yet insistent.

Rajveer’s chest heaved, a deep, shuddering release of breath he had not realized he’d been holding. “Yes,” he whispered, pressing his forehead to hers. “He’s here. Safe. Both of you are safe.”
