The night dragged on, each second a knife twisting inside Rajveer’s chest.

The chamber was thick with the bitter smoke of the vaid’s herbs. Meenal lay motionless on the carved teak bed, pale as ivory, her breath shallow, fragile—yet stubbornly alive.

Rajveer had not moved from her side. His calloused, blood-stained hands clutched hers as though sheer force could anchor her soul to this world.

But inside… he was breaking.

Pregnant.

The word struck him like iron. Every thought collided with memory and doubt.

Impossible.
It cannot be mine.
We have never shared that intimacy…

He could almost see the sneer of every villager and hear whispers staining her honor. Rage boiled in him, violent and raw. He wanted to tear the haveli down and scream until the heavens themselves shattered.
