✨ Chapter 58: Imperfect Love
Meenal pressed herself against Rajveer, still trembling from the sudden chaos. Arun slept peacefully on the bed, oblivious to the storm that had passed. Her heartbeat slowly found rhythm again, but her mind refused to quiet.
"Meenal." Rajveer's hands gently stroked her back, sending a jolt of comfort through her.
She lifted her head to meet Rajveer’s eyes, seeking the calm she desperately needed. “Thakur shahab…” she whispered, her voice barely audible, carrying a weight that had nothing to do with words.
He cupped her face gently, thumb brushing along her cheek. “Shh… It’s over. He’s gone now. We’re fine.” His hand was warm yet trembling with the lingering fear of what could have been.
She shook her head, a small, bitter laugh escaping. “Fine?” she repeated, almost to herself. “You think I can be fine after—after everything?” Her gaze fell to Arun’s sleeping form. “I’m terrified… terrified of losing him. Of losing what little we have, of losing you.”
Meenal's tears glistened in her eyes as she looked up at Rajveer, her vulnerability laid bare. "I never got what I wanted in life…"
"You never wanted me or this marriage ever… You wanted to be with Aditya, right?" Rajveer said the truth that made his heart clench in pain.
"I was never your first choice; I was just someone you were forced to marry, to be with Arun."
Meenal's eyes widened in shock at Rajveer's words, the truth hitting her hard. Her hands trembled as she reached out to touch his face, her voice barely a whisper. "I never wanted this. I never wanted any of this," she sobbed, feeling trapped in a situation she never imagined herself in.
"You're right, I never wanted you or this marriage. You were always my sister's husband first—the Thakur whose presence I resented," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
