The storm outside still raged, but inside the haveli, another storm was brewing.

Rajveer shut the doors, the thud echoing like a vow. Rainwater dripped from his hair, tracing down his jaw. Meenal stood in the center of the hall, her saree clinging to her skin, every breath visible in the faint candlelight.

Their laughter from the garden still clung to the air, but it softened now into something hushed, more dangerous.

Rajveer stepped closer, slow, deliberate. Each footfall was a pull, and Meenal felt her heart trip with every inch he erased between them.

“You’re still shivering,” he said quietly, though his own voice was unsteady. He brushed her arm where goosebumps prickled against wet fabric.

Meenal’s lips curved, defiant despite the tremor in her chest. “It's nothing," she said, but the lie was as transparent as glass.
